Adult Women With ADD Face Daily Challenges
Adult women with ADHD face challenges every day. They often get misdiagnosed and neglected because many doctors think of ADD as a condition that is only affecting boys and men. adhd symptoms in adult women in females vary in response to hormones. They become more prominent when you reach puberty, but they decrease when estrogen levels drop during PMS or perimenopause.
Signs and symptoms
Adult women with ADD are impatient, easily irritated and impulsive. They tend to be impulsive and jump into projects, like relationships or careers, without planning them out. Many of them have a high level of rejection sensitivity which makes it hard to handle actual or perceived rejection. These women are more likely to engage in sexually dangerous behaviors than women who don't suffer from ADD like early sex, casual sex, multiple partners and unprotected pregnancies. Depression is often a co-occurring condition that results from ADD and must be treated equally. ADD symptoms are more noticeable in girls who are puberty, PMS, and as estrogen levels decrease in perimenopausal and menopause.
Diagnosis

Doctors can miss diagnosing ADD in women due to the fact that they are mistakenly thinking that it is more prevalent in boys. Women who suffer from ADD are more emotional than other women, especially when they go through puberty, suffer from PMS or enter perimenopause or menopause. They can become highly emotional and impulsive, and can be caught in the full swing instead of planning their lives carefully. Depression can be a result of or is a result of the disorder.
